Under 10 Fixtures 2017

Round 1

Moorefield travelled to Blessington this morning for our first match in Group F of the U10 League.

The throw-in was at 10:45am and the match played as a 9 a-side game with two 20 minute halves and despite a brief heavy shower before the game and some more rain during the second half, both teams went about their business to put on a great performance which was enjoyed by spectators and players alike.

Blessington started the game well winning a lot of possession in mid-field and making some fine passes into their forward line followed up by some well taken scores.   The Moorefield girls, determined not to let the opposition have it all their own way demonstrated some excellent defensive plays by tackling and blocking well and as a result of some great clearances managed to create some fine scores at the other end of the pitch.

The second half continued with the same intensity with both teams battling hard to win possession of the ball.   Blessington however managed to break through on more occasions and did enough to go on and win the match.    Congratulations to both teams for putting on an excellent display.

Thanks to Michelle and the Blessington team and also well done to the referee who had a great game and was very fair to both sides.

Round 3- 6th June

Well done to the Moorefield and Baltinglass U10 Girls for a great display of football in fine sunny weather conditions last Saturday Morning.   Moorefield who travelled with 8 players were greeted by an impressive turnout of 30 players from Baltinglass for a 10:30am throw-in.   The Baltinglass girls were split up into three separate teams of 10 each and two others from Baltinglass threw on Moorefield jerseys to allow us to play 3 consecutive games of 15 minutes each.

The intensity and determination from all players was excellent throughout resulting in a very competitive but fair performance from both teams in each game.

Thanks to Graham for being a great host, refereeing the games and also for the drinks and snacks afterwards.   Thanks also to all the parents for getting the girls to the game and for the positive support from the sidelines.
